Do you offer axminster carpets?
We do offer axminster-type carpets, however, we take a slightly different approach which improves the quality and the design capabilities.
Axminster carpets are often used as an industry term for carpets made from an 80% wool / 20% nylon blend, most commonly used in hospitality settings such as hotel corridors, ballrooms, and guest rooms. Historically though, axminster carpets are woven carpets, which is where we differ in approach.
Our 80/20 carpets as we call these, are tufted instead of woven, which allows us to use a higher quality yarn that will retain its qualities over a longer period of time. The twist rate of our 80/20 yarns is substantially higher than regular axminster carpets, resulting in yarns that remain upright much longer. On top of that, we only work with the finest New-Zealand wool, which is never bleached. We only buy premium wool which has the purest and lightest color possible.
The dying process of our 80/20 carpets is also different from traditional axminster carpets. Traditionally yarns are dyed before they are woven into a pattern, however at ege Carpets we will first tuft the carpet and then introduce the pattern through high-pressure dye injection. The Millitron machine used in this process is equipped with approximately 38,000 dye nozzles that inject dye under very high pressure into the core of each yarn. This allows for an unseen color variation in the carpet, where basically one yarn becomes one pixel.
From a design perspective, our technology allows to use more than just 12 colors and allows for organic patterns with smooth color transitions or lines that run straight and do not have the typical jagged look achieved in a woven carpet.
Our 80/20 carpets offer a 15 year wear warranty and have been installed in many hotels throughout the world. Please reach out to our team if you would like more information or a reference list.
