The answer depends on the type of product you are considering.

Area rugs: any type of rug pad can be used, please do ensure in a commercial setting to select a pad that is suitable for commercial environments and its fire certifications. 

Broadloom: the type of padding used will depend on the installation method and the amount of foot traffic expected in the space. For high-traffic environments, we recommend the use of scrum rubber padding installed through a double stick installation. For stretch fit installation over grippers (common in hotel guest rooms), regular commercial carpet padding for hospitality applications can be used. 

!! An important note is that no carpet padding can be used for our flatwoven carpets. These flat weave carpets are extremely thin (which is their appeal), so the carpet seams will open up when installed on padding. Direct glue only to the subfloor. 

Carpet tiles: no carpet padding can be used under carpet tiles. Our patented Ecotrust backing however already offers acoustical benefits. The installation method is direct glue only. A releasable adhesive can be used for easy repairs.
